Mary Lou Hoover is seeking the City Commission seat in District 5. She moved to Key West after a 35 year career in public works construction. She continued her career as a consultant to surety companies and their attorneys, managing a variety of projects including a Super Fund project, an airport renovation and the structural steel contract at the Pentagon – Phase 2. She sees holding public office as a natural progression after her years of work for local businesses, fundraising for non-profits, and creating the Girls Night Out networking organization. A former Queen of Fantasy Fest, Ms. Hoover served on the Board of Directors for the Key West Business Guild and as President of Helpline of the Keys. She was active with the American Subcontractors Association in St. Louis and at the national level. She was instrumental in passing Prompt Payment and Lien Law reform. Mary Lou met and married her husband, Charlie, and they have 3 children.
